About Mannering Park

Mannering Park is an intimate little township situated on a lovely and picturesque peninsular on the Southern side of Lake Macquarie, Australia's largest salt water lake.  It is often seen as being right at the Northern end of the NSWCentralCoast whilst it is also in the Northern part of Wyong Shire.

History of Mannering Park

It was originally settled by Edward Garth who he had a landholding that included the area North of Waverley Road.   The area was then used for farming and logging by James Vale who arrived in ManneringPark in 1911.

The amazing amount of available fresh fish in the lake led to the establishment of a successful commercial fishing industry in the area.

In the early 1960's the Vales Point Power Station was constructed nearby which was fed by the local coal mines. That led to quite a large increase in the local population leading to the establishment of ManneringParkPrimary School in 1961.

Over time, it has become both a pleasant place to live and bring up children as well as seeing many of the foreshore houses become much larger as people relocated there for a better lifestyle from Sydney and Newcastle.  Quite a few houses now also provide accommodation to those who want a break from the city in a pleasant, waterfront environment.

Mannering Park has the unique feature of being an isolated town without prospect for future increased housing due to the bushland buffer zone to its South and the lake to the North.

Whist it may be a bit isolated, Mannering Park remains close to transport, shopping centres, beaches, bush and mountains that all go to make not only the suburb but the whole area a great place to visit and stay.
