History of Erina
In 1825, Willoughby Bean was a native of Hampshire in
1829
Willoughby Bean sold property to David Maziere who later sold to David Aspinally
1832
Henry Donnison and family moved into the unoccupied property. Donnison made a living from the timber within the area. Erina was virtually their own.
1834
Richard Jones granted 2,000 acres at Erina - the same land, strangely with no recorded objections.
1852
Henry Donnison died and his daughters Hannah and Laura legally occupied the property after 30 years of uncertain ownership.
1859
Public Road opened
1860's
Mrs Cappers School operated for a few years on the Donnison sisters land.
1873
Owner of the adjoining 600 acre land Henry Ferris died.
1879
George Howard and family established a sawmill with just 2 employees.
1883
William Joyce Hobbs purchased the 2,000 acre property from the Donnison sisters who then sold the property to land agents Boyd & King.
1885
Boyd and King started The Gosford Times Newspaper to promote and sell the sub-divided land.

James Henry Legge purchased the neighbouring 600 acre land from Henry Ferris' wife.
